SPOILER WARNING FOR KLONOA GAMES!!!
I finished the Door to Phantomile game recently, the PSX version. I like the overall cuteness of this game, and the OST makes me wanna cry, cuz of how beautiful it is. Gameplay-wise it's fun to play, and gets very challenging at the end. Sometimes it's frustrating, but that's cuz I was in a bad mood while playing. I didn't 100%-ed it yet, but very close to it!
Overall, I like the game very much, but I don't think I'm going to replay it ever again. It's because of the ending.
If you don't know, or don't remember but don't care about finishing the game - after Klonoa saves the world, his best friend Huepow confesses that Klonoa didn't live in this world, and not only Huepow lied to him about his origins, he BRAINWASHED KLONOA'S MEMORIES, so that it will be easier to convince him save the world. Klonoa gets upset, rightfully so, but before he could at least grasp the truth, he gets sucked the hell out of the world, and... the game just ends.
That's just fucking sad. But not in a bittersweet way. The ending leaves you (and Klonoa) upset, confused and you kind of feel betrayed. After watching it, I couldn't stop thinking why. Why did Huepow decide to brainwash Klonoa? Why did he tell him that at the last minute? Why they kicked Klonoa right away? Does Huepow not care? Doesn't anybody care? Did people in Phantomile even know that Klonoa had to go? Many questions, and all of them aren't gonna be answered. It's sad in a bitter way.
I can't play this game, not knowing what happens with Klonoa. I don't want this cute child to suffer :(
But I think the ending is cool, even if it brings negative emotions. It sticks. It makes you remember the game. That's why I like it. But I will never replay it again.
